The purpose of this system is to provide farmers with accurate and timely information about possible pest outbreaks and appropriate use of pesticides to curb these outbreaks based on data held for their specific farms and crops. The system also interfaces to other systems to obtain relevant data (e.g, weather data). Secure information is provided via fax, email or SMS so that farmers can apply the appropriate measures.

• The main objective is to have a fully functional website deployed and running, which can provide farmers with information on the timely and appropriate application of pesticides
• Successfully interface to DPI Weather Systems
• Maintenance of historical data – farmers details, pesticide applications, outbreaks etc.
• Automation of the alert process which will be done by fax, email and alert SMS
• Generation of reports based on the data acquired and entered into the database
• Security of confidential data and data flows between relevant entities
